 of her folies that is to saye the aduersaryes of Mellebe / 832 had  
 herd what these messagers said vnto hem / 833 they were right  
 glad & ioyeful / and answerd ful mekely and benignely  
 834 yeldyng graces & thankynges to her lord Mellebe & to alle  
 his companye . 835 And shopen hem withoute ony delaye to go  
 with þe messagers & to obeye to the comandement of her lord  
 Mellebe . 836 And right anon they toke her way to her lorde  
 Mellebe / 837 And right anon they toke her way to her lordes  
 court and toke with hem som of her trewe frendes to make  
 feyth for hem and for to be her borowes . 838 And whan they  
 were comen to the presence of Mellebe he said to hem thise  
 wordes / 839 hit stondeth thus sayd Mellebe & soth it is that  
 840 causeles & withouten skyll & reson ye 841 haue don grete Iniury  
 es to me to my wif prudence & to my doughter also . 842 For ye  
 haue entryd in to my hous by violence 843 & haue doon suche oul  
 trage that alle men knowe well that ye haue deseruyd deth  
 844 And therfore wold I knowe of you 845 whether ye will putte  
 you to punysshyng And the chastysing & the vengeance of  
 this oultrage in the will of me & of my wif or ellis not .  
846 THan the wisest of hem thre answerd for hem all & saide  
 847 Syr said he we knowe well that we be vnworthy to  
 come to the court of so grete a lord & so worthy as ye be / 848 For  
 we haue so gretly mystaken vs & haue offended & gylted in  
 suche wise agaynst youre hye lordship 849 that trewly we haue  
 deseruyd the deth / 850 but yet for the grete goodnes & debonairte  
 that alle the world witnessheth of your persone / 851 we submitte  
 vs to the excellence & benignite of your graacious lordship / 853 &  
 beseching you of your merciable pite ye wil cōsidere our grete  
 repentance & lowe submission / 854 and grante vs foryeuenes of
