| sith reson his lordship ouer sensualite and ouer the body . | |||
| 192 For right as reson is rebel to god / Right so is sensualite | |||
| rebel to reson and the body also / 193 And certes thys orde- | |||
| naunce And this rebellion our lord Ihesu Crist aboughte | |||
| vpon his body wel deer / and herkeneth in whiche wyse . | |||
| 194 For as mykyll thenne as reson is rebell to god therfore | |||
| is man worthy to haue sorowe and to be dede / 195 This suffrid | |||
| our lord Ihesu for man after he was betraid of his disci- | |||
| ple and distreyned & bound so that the blood brast out | |||
| at euery naylle of his hondes as saith saynt Augustyn . | |||
| 196 And ferthermore for as mykyl as reson of man wil not | |||
| daunte sensualite whan it may / Therfore is man worthy | |||
| to haue shame / And this suffred our lord Ihesu Crist | |||
| for man whan they spitten in his visage / 197 And ferther ouer | |||
| then for as muche as the caytyf body of man is rebell bothe | |||
| to reson and to sensualite therfore it is worthy the deth . | |||
| 198 And this suffrid our lord Ihesu Crist for man vpon the | |||
| crosse / Where as ther was no parte of his body fre without | |||
| grete payne and bitter passion 199 And al this suffred Ihesu | |||
| Crist that neuer forfeted / To muche am I peyned for tho | |||
| thinges that I neuer deseruyd and to mykyl defouled for | |||
| frendship that man is worthy to haue / 200 And therfore may | |||
| the sinful man wel saye as seynt Bernard seith A cursid | |||
| be the bitternes / 201 For certis after diuerse discordauntes of | |||
