Ful pryuely synne I hadde a wyf
Preyse who so wol a weddid mannys lyf
Certeyn I fynde it but cost and care
And obseruauncis of alle blissis bare
And yet god woot myn neyghebours aboute
And namely of wommen meny a route
Sayn that I haue the muste stedfast wyf
And eek the mekest one that berith lyf
But I woot best where wringith me my sho
Ye may for me right as ye like do
Auisith you ye be a man of age
How that ye entren in to mariage
And namely with a yong wyf & a feir
Be hym that made watir erthe and heir
The yongest man that is in al this route
Is besy ynough to brynge it aboute
To haue a wyf alone but trusteth me
Ye shul not plesen hire only yeris thre
This is to sayn to do hir plesaunce
A wyf axeth ful meny an obseruaunce
I pray you that ye be not euyl apayd
Well quod this Ianuary hast thou sayd
Straw for thy senek and for thy prouerbis
I counte not a paner ful of herbis
Of scole termes wyser men than thow
As thou hast herd hath sentid right now
To my purpos Placebo what sey ye
I sey it is a cursid man quod he
 That lettith matrimony sikirly
